ASHA INSTITUTE OF ONCOLOGY & RESEARCH



The Asha Institute of Oncology & Research (AOR Institute) is built on the lines of providing Cancer care at par with the International standards. The hospital is a venture of the ISO certified KKJ Group International (India) Pvt. Ltd., a multinational conglomerate having operations in Middle East, North American and Asian countries. This is a 300-bedded specialty hospital providing care and treatment for patients suffering from Cancer and its related ailments. The hospital is envisaged to be self contained, offering all services that a cancer patient needs.

Once operational, the hospital would house all medical specialties like that of the Medical Oncology, Radiation Oncology, Surgical Oncology, General Medicine, General Surgery, ENT, Gynecology, Nuclear medicine and Paediatrics along with diagnostic facilities. In addition, it shall have state-of-the-art Research and Development infrastructure in the above disciplines while it is envisaged that in the early 2010 the hospital would be fully functional.

INFRASTRUCTURE

The structural work of the two main multi-storied buildings for housing the AOR Institute is almost on verge of completion while the furnishing and final completion would be by end of 2009. The following is the status of the buildings under construction as on 05.05.09.

DIAGNOSTIC FACILITIES

PATHOLOGY: The department of pathology is an important department for a cancer hospital as a correct diagnosis depends upon the accuracy of pathological interpretation of biopsy specimen. The department of pathology would have the following facilities, Histopathology, Cytology, Hematology, Tumor markers, Blood bank etc.

RADIO DIAGNOSIS & IMAGING DEPARTMENT
The radio diagnosis imaging department is the backbone of any modern and treatment centre of present era. The quality of treatment depends on the imaging results. The department would have conventional X ray, Ultra sound scanning machine, Colour Doppler, Mammography and CT Scan. The department will also be equipped to perform interventional procedures like that of USG and CT Guided FNAC and Biopsies. Therapeutic aspirations can also be performed under ultra sound and CT guidance.

PHARMACY:
The hospital pharmacy is well stocked with the latest generic medicines that are available in the market. Internationally branded medicines and imported medicines are also available. All this backed with well qualified and mannered staff assure the availability of medicines round the clock. The hospital management system does the stocking and the distribution of the medicines in a manner of ease so that unnecessary queuing for medicines is avoided. The pharmacist would also educate the patient with regard to the consumption of the medicine.

FOLLOW UP CLINICS
Efficient mechanism has been developed for the follow up of the patients. Patients who are being discharged from the hospital or having left the clinic after the consultation would be given an appointment for the next visiting date and also would be reminded so that he/she would not miss out on the appointment. Arrangements are made for the patients, for all the support services in the hospital with regard to other investigative procedures or care of the patients. A separate department is established to assist the patients in all their needs with regard to their post treatment matter.

CANCER AWARENESS CAMPS
Mass Cancer education and early detection of the disease are the objectives of the programme. We are organising Cancer Awareness Sessions at selected venues, Cancer Screening and Detection Camps, Workshops and Cancer Screening Surveys are the principal activities of this project. Volunteer trainings in the aspect of diagnosis of the ailment is also planned.

PALLIATIVE CARE CENTRE
The institute has within the campus a palliative care centre functioning for the benefit of the patients who have been suffering from pain. A dedicated team of trained staff is available for the purpose of giving care to these patients.

Engineering Wing
To cater to the needs of our valued customers in Indian subcontinent and neighbouring regions, KKI has been established in Cochin, India. It extends its services in the following fields :

	Engineering, Procurement, Construction of Turnkey, Civil, Electromechanical, Electrical works, other key infrastructural projects.
	Construction of Barges, Vessels, Yachts, Ship Repairs and other Refurbishments, Accommodation Modules, Marine Engineering works.
	Thermal Insulations, Refractories and Electric Heat Tracing for Onshore & Offshore projects.
